ورد ذكر الصبر أكثر من تسعين مرة وفي مواطن مختلفة في القرآن الكريم وذكرت كلمة الصبر 102 مرة حيث قال تعالى :
"إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ" الزمر 10 وقد أمر الله نبيه بالصبر وبشره وبشر الصابرين :" فَاصْبِرْ إِنَّ الْعَاقِبَةَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ" هود 49، وقد قرن الله تعالى الصبر بالعبادات حيث قرنه بالصلاة : "وَاستَعِينُوا بِالصّبرِ وَالصّلاة" البقرة45
وقال سبحانه وتعالي أن الصابرين في معيته حيث جاء في سورة الأنفال الآية 46: " واصبروا إن الله مع الصابرين".
- قال النبي محمد صلي الله عليه وسلم: ما أعطي أحد عطاء خيرا وأوسع من الصبر
- قال علي بن ابي طالب كرم الله وجهه:
أصبر على مضض الإدلاج في السحر
وفي الرواح وفي الطاعات وفي البكر
إني رأيت وفي الأيام تجربة
للصبر عاقبة محمودة الأثر
وقلّ من جد في أمر يؤمله
واستصحب الصبر إلا فاز بالظفر
- وقال رجل للإمام أحمد :
كيف تجدك يا أبا عبد الله؟ قال: بخير في عافية، فقال له: حممت البارحة؟ -أي: أصابتك الحمى- قال: إذا قلت لك: أنا في عافية فحسبك، لا تخرجني إلى ما أكره..أي انه لا يرد ان يشكي حاله فيضيع اجر صبره.
- يقول عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه: وجدنا خير عيشنا الصبر .
وقال ايضا : أفضل عيش أدركناه بالصبر، ولو أن الصبر كان من الرجال كان كريما .
- قال على بن أبي طالب رضى الله عنه:
ألا إن الصبر من الإيمان بمنزلة الرأس من الجسد ، فإذا قطع الرأس بار الجسم ، ثم رفع صوته فقال: إنه لا إيمان لمن لا صبر له .
- قال الحسن: الصبر كنز من كنوز الخير، لا يعطيه الله إلا لعبد كريم عنده .
- قال عمر بن عبد العزيز: ما أنعم الله على عبد نعمة، فانتزعها منه، فعاضه مكانها الصبر، إلا كان ما عوضه خيرا مما انتزعه .
- الصبر جواد لا يكبو وصارم لا ينبو وحصن حصين ودرع متين
-الصبر..عند المصيبة.. يسمى ايماناً.
-الصبر..عند الاكل..يسمى قناعة.
- الصبر..عند حفظ السر.. يسمى كتماناً.
-الصبر..من اجل الصداقة.. يسمى وفاء.
-اصبر قليلا فبعد العسر تيسير وكل أمر له وقت وتدبير.
-اصبر لكل مُصِيبةٍ وتجلًّدِ واعلم بأن الدهر غير مُخَلَّدِ.
- الصبر صبران: صبر على ما تكره وصبر على ما تحب.
- إنما الصبر عند الصدمة الأولى.
-إن السماء تُرْجَى حين تحتجب.
- دواء الدهر الصبر عليه.
-صبرك عن محارم الله أيسر من صبرك على عذاب الله.
- من صبر ظفر.
- من لم يصبر على كلمة سمع كلمات.
- وأفضل أخلاق الرجال التَّصَبُّرُ.. وعاقبة الصبر الجميل جميلة.
وقال بعضهم:
ما أحسن الصبر في الدنيا وأجمله
عند الإله وأنجاه من الجزع
من شد بالصبر كفاً عند مؤلمة
ألوت يداه بحبل غير منقطع
وقال آخر
إذا ما أتاك الدهر يوماً بنكبة
فأفرغ لها صبراً ووسع لها صدرا
فإن تصاريف الزمان عجيبة
فيوماً ترى يسراً ويوماً ترى عسرا
-وقيل: فاذا تصبك مصيبة فاصبر لها عظمت مصيبة مبتل لا يصبر
-وأيضا:
ولرب ضائقة يضيق بها الفتى
وعند الله منها المخرج
ضاقت فلما استحكمت حلقاتها فرجت
وكنت احسب انها لا تفرج
-ومدحوه قائلين:
والصبر في النائبات صعب
لكن فوات الثواب أصعب
ويحث شاعر على الصبر قائلا:
ترَدَّ رِدَاءَ الصـبر عنـد النـوائـبِ *** تَنَلْ مِن جميل الصبر حُسن العواقبِ
فإذا بُليتَ بعثـرة فاصـبر لهـا *** صَبْرَ الكـريم، فـإنّ ذلك أحزمُ
لا تشكُوَنّ إلـى الخـلائق إنّمـا *** تشكو الرحيمَ إلى الّذي لا يرحمُ
وقيل في معنى الصبر ومقارنته بالشجاعة:
- الشجاعة هي الصبر و الثبات والإقدام على الأمور النافعة تحصيلاً وعلى الأمور السيئة دفعاً
- وقال حكيم لإبنه :
-يا بني.. إذا أردت أن تصاحب رجلاً فأغضبه.. فإن أنصفك من نفسه فلا تدع صحبته.. وإلا فاحذره..
وقال الأبيوردي:
تنكَّر لي دهري ولم يدر أنني
أعزّ وأحداث الزمان تهـــــون
فبات يريني الخطب كيف اعتداؤه
وبتّ أريه الصبر كـــيف يكــــون
- وقيل عن الصبر:
هو جواد لا يكبو، وصارم لا ينبو، وحصن حصين ودرع متين.."وهو بمنزلة الرأس من الجسد، وبمكان العينين من الجوارح.. فقد جاء في صحيح مسلم أن "الصبر ضياء".
وقيل: إن الصبر له من اسمه حظ، فهو مر مذاقه.. لكن عواقبه أحلى من الشهد.
- ومما نقله ابن القيم في مدارج السالكين أنه: "حبس النفس عن الجزع والتسخط، وحبس اللسان عن الشكوى، وحبس الجوارح عن المعصية".
إن الصبر خمس مراتب: الصابر والمصطبر والمتصبر والصبور والصبار، وهي درجات بعضها فوق بعض من حيث درجة الاحتمال وعظيم الأجر.

الصـبر بلــسم الجـروح
الصبر شجرة جـذورها مرة وثمارها حلوة
من صبر ظــفر
مــن صبر وتـأنــي نـال ما تمنـى
