كان الكاتب الصحفى توحيد مجدى قد نشر حلقتين من المذكرات أكد فيها بما لديه من أوراق خاصة تم تسريبها من هذه المذكرات أن الرئيس السابق اعترف فى مذكراته أن الرئيس السادات كان ينوى الإطاحة به من منصب نائب رئيس الجمهورية وأنه كان يمتهنه ويصفه بأنه بطىء الفهم ولكن اغتيال الرئيس السادات حال دون ذلك وكشف توحيد مجدى فى هذه المذكرات أن الرئيس السابق أشار إلى أن والدته رفعت عليه قضية نفقة لظروفها الصعبة وأن حسنى مبارك كان يعانى من الفقر الشديد وأنه بدأ يشعر بذاته فقط عندما دخل الكلية الجوية ..

كثيرة تلك المحطات التي يقف عندها مبارك في مذكراته والتي سجلها كاتب صحافي كبير تقاضى ثمن كتابتها 250 ألف دولار، أبرزها أنه كان يتطلع إلى اليوم الذي يودع فيه الفقر وينتقل في السلم الاجتماعي إلى طبقة أعلى.
كما يتناول مبارك في مذكراته علاقته بزوجته سوزان ويؤكد أنها كانت قائدته في الكثير من محطات الحياة، وقد طلبت منه الطلاق مرارا خلال علاقتهما الزوجية، وعندما أصبحت سيدة مصر الأولى بعد تسلمه الرئاسة تخلت عن هذا الطلب.

وبالنسبة لأشرف مروان، يكشف مبارك أن الدافع الرئيسي لاغتيال القذافي له هو الاختلاف على عمولات السلاح بين أشرف وأبناء القذافي، بخصوص صفقة سلاح إلى إحدى الدول الإفريقية.
